PLEASE HELPhi there, I have this unusual large soup tureen and matching ladle but I know nothing about it. Id love an appraisal or any info you could help me on with your professional thoughts. thanks so much in advance! Its round, 14" x 9" high 3 footed ceramic pottery, no idea what kind. white on the inside and bottom of feet. vibrant peacock blue glaze very tiny crazing, faint too. only a couple tiny chips, not very noticeable. one is on the inside lip. the ladle has been repaired, looks like a clean break in the middle. 3 winged mythological creatures adorn the outside. no idea what type of beasts they are, look like griffins. appears to be a makers mark embedded on bottom...a W or M, or V in a circle. possibly some very faint black lettering off to the side but I cant make it out or really tell if it is a word. no idea of era, country of origin, value or maker. please help, i love this thing & cant wait to find out more! :) thanks so much for your time! Milk signSubmitted by: Tracie |
PLEASE HELPI don't know much about this milk sign. I only know for sure that it was in my grandmother's possession from the 1940s until she passed it along to me in 1995. She told me then that it was an antique. I've been unable to find 1 like it through online research. It has no maker's mark or engraving and no visible brand name. I've assumed that it was designed for a grocery store dairy section, perhaps? I would greatly appreciate any information regarding this sign's history, age, value, etc. Thank you!! Sideboard/buffetSubmitted by: Temple |

PLEASE HELPI do not know anything about this piece. In have tried to look online, but with no markings on the piece to help me, I am at a loss. It just looks really old to me, and I'm trying to figure out if this is an antique and if anyone thinks it might be worth anything. I would be willing to sell it or take it to an appraiser if I could get someone to look at it first. It is very heavy. It has 2 small drawers at the top, 3 cabinets in the middle with the middle one having a split shelf, and a big drawer on the bottom. The underside of this piece looks like it has a screen piece tacked up to it. It does have some scratches, and a knob missing. It did have a mirror that sat on the back but we no longer have that. Any help would be great! Thank you. Submit your estimate of worth |

Solingen german knife?Submitted by: Tim |
PLEASE HELPI bought this blade being told it was a nazi era boot knife. After searching for hours it looks more like a german solingen knife. Its definitely old. Also had 'Bob Herrmann' inscribed on the blade. Any ideas on what exactly I have and about what its value is? Submit your estimate of worth |
Estimated Value submitted by Antiquesnavigator Staff |
It might be a Solingen, here are a couple of very similar knives: Vintage Antique Solingen Bowie WWII era knife Antique Knife 40 years old Germany Solingen Leather handle However, the two examples above are almost identical to each other but yours is slightly different. The handle stripes are different and your blade looks sharpened on both sides. Knives with blades sharpened on both sides are called daggers, which I believe is what you have. As far as value, its only a guess because I could find the exact same dagger, but I would say your German dagger is worth between $20-50 dollars. I hope this information helps and thanks for sharing your dagger. |
Estimated Value submitted by |
Yes sorry for the confusion, it is in fact sharpened on both ends making it a dagger. I cant find any identifying markings anywhere on the knife. Has Solengen ever made daggers, and would there be a hidden makers branding or mark anywhere on the dagger? |

Antique WHITE STAR Cruise LINES Silver Plated SHAKER. It's got the White Star Cruise Line Flag on the side, and maker's marks on the base. It's Silver Plate. It's quite a piece. This piece must have been used originally on an early cruise ship - no I doubt the Titanic! Probably a bit earlier than that. French frame and tableSubmitted by: Jill |
PLEASE HELPHello. My grandmother long owned the frame I now have, and I've no knowledge of its origin. In researching, I believe the frame may originate from France or is French in design, and that it may date from the mid 19th century or earlier. Too, I've an old table with a family crest carved upon its top. My mother found this charming item within an old, falling-down Wyoming homestead while rock-hunting in the desert, during the early 1960's. It is a lovely little table that I imagine came to the Wyoming desert in a covered wagon, way back when. I further hope that you can provide information or an estimation of where and when this table may have originated. Thank You for your time. Submit your estimate of worth |
